It will be published officially in the Federal Register on Monday, August 3rd and will take effect 60 days later (October 2, 2020), assuming that the litigation efforts that are planned don’t stop it in its tracks.
It is 576 pages long, so we haven’t been able to digest it yet, but we wanted to share the rule with you and some key points:
- Increases fees by a weighted average of 20 percent
- Adds a $50 fee for asylum application
- Removes the proposal to transfer money to ICE
- Retains some fee waiver
